Hand-Carved Men's Wedding Bands

Lately we've been working away on wedding band orders. We love creating each and every piece. It's such an honor when someone chooses us to design their ring, making us part of their love story.

One of our favorite things about being creatives in the wedding industry is that we are not just crafting any piece of metal, we are crafting an heirloom. We are crafting something special that will stand the test of trials and the test of time.

Here's a few we worked on recently...

Chessa + Jordan: Custom wedding band texture in rose gold

Adriana: rugged paths in white gold

Leonard + Ayn: Love Unfettered in rose gold

Handcrafted Men's Wedding Band Inspired by the Vineyard's of France

We're thrilled to release our new piece Vineyard's Ridge, one of the inspirations that came out of our time in France last Fall. The town of Ribeauville lies at the foot of the Vosges Mountains surrounded by hills and valleys of lush and vibrant vineyards. We spent our time weaving through rows of grapevines throughout the Alsace region.

Our love is vast and never leaving. Our hope is sloped and steeply leading above hillsides and tall pines, through mountains and cold rain. The fog that settles in the morning holds the pale light softly glowing, among the trellises and tree lines you’re the warmth in every single sunrise.

This beautiful experience led us to create a piece that means a lot to us... Vineyard's Ridge.

Please e-mail us at info@rhodesweddingco.com if you have any questions before ordering.

Rhodes Love Story: Custom Opal Engagement Ring Two-Piece Set

Here's a story about how a boy met a girl...

From the day after I met Brittany at a ska punk show, I knew there was something special about her. We started talking a little more every day until a little turned into a lot. Our mutual friends didn’t always agree with the relationship and often tried to make it difficult for us to be around each other, but true love always finds a way, right? Secretly holding hands under tables, late night rendezvous, and sneaky sneaky peck kisses at the end of the night when our chaperones (our mutual friends) weren’t looking.

Eventually we got busted and the cat was let out of the bag, they didn’t appreciate it at all, some of them completely stopped talking to us, but we had each other. Next thing you know, years and years passed. Eight of them in fact! We’ve both grown and learned a lot. We went from living with our own separate families to buying our own house and finally doing what very few ever imagined would happen. We got married. On December 13, 2014 we ended our eight year relationship and began our lifetime of marriage together.
— Wayne

We have loved getting to know Wayne and Brittany, following their love story and creating her engagement ring and wedding band. The engagement ring is white gold with a delicate opal setting with a matching wedding band.

Wedding Photographer: Lara Hotz

This wedding captured by the wonderfully talented Lara Hotz is so intimate that I couldn't resist creating a blog to share it with you. I was so moved as my eyes and heart took in this love story. Watching this couple get each other ready for their special day, seeing them dance and play in the rain and getting to share those special quiet moments with them through the lens made my heart so full. Seeing their love truly reminded me of my love story with Perry. They love like no one is watching, and so do we.

ALLISON + NATHANIEL

If you're an artist, filmmaker, designer, photographer and/or visionary who is playing a part in the world's great love story, we want to get to know you. Don't be shy, we'd love to tell your story. Email us at info@rhodesweddingco.com

Wedding Photographers: Pop-Up Wedding Co.

I was introduced to Brittany from The Pop-Up Wedding Co. through the lovely Lauren Campbell. Britt and her husband Josh created The Pop-Up Wedding Co., Australia's original pop-up wedding company out of a desire to see couples have their dream elopement, no matter what that looks like. They believe that everyone is different and deserves a wedding that reflects who they are. They organize the best celebrant (Josh!), they take care of the legal paperwork (yes, please!), photography, venue, styling, and florist to host an amazing hour long elopement with a handful of your closest friends for your marriage ceremony and then you’ve got a quick photo shoot. Josh and Britt handle everything, so you don't have to. Have a look around their site and fall in love.

Featured Works: The Little Press

We're thrilled to highlight some of our favorite stationary, complete with hand penned illustrations and typography by Rob and Emily of The Little Press. It was a joy to photograph these gorgeous custom invitations with our hand carved wedding bands — the details and textures are so intricate and unique. We resonated with their work as that's what moves us in our creations.

Inspired by the wild oceans, the delicate lace details, hand beaded couture gowns and quiet chaos. We have added a new collection of patterns to our Bohemian Dream collection for all the wild hearts and dreamers.
— The Little Press

A bit about how The Little Press started in their own words...

The Little Press started out as one little hand operated printing press named ‘Leo’, and very quickly grew into something much bigger. We found ‘Big Boy’, a beautiful old Chandler & Price, weighing in about 650 kilos in an old garage near the ocean. He allows us to get that beautiful, tactile impresion into a large area of our paper, with his own two tonnes of momentum. It’s all powered by the treadle, keeping us fit, but also gives us complete control to monitor the printing as we hand feed each sheet.

The Little Press designs start as hand penned illustrations and typography, and once developed with their clients to the perfect invitation they letterpress print them in their studio in Perth, Australia.

As I trace the letters on the delicate grooves and ridges of the paper I fall so in love with these textures upon textures.

Choose from a range of fine hand drawn details to be customized with hand lettered typography.  If you have any questions or would like a quote you can contact them at thelittlepress@gmail.com.

If you're a designer, an artist of any kind and would like to be featured, please reach out to us at info@rhodesweddingco.com.

Love, Loss and Traveling the World

Q&A with Rhodes co-founder, Jessy

First off, give us a little background. How did you two meet?

It all started in 2006. We were 20 years old and both signed on for the most grueling summer of our lives, Warped Tour. I was working for Atlantic Records and ran the merchandise booth, and Perry was a vocalist for a band and loved to play shows. So here we are on Warped Tour... sick of sitting in the heat and dust all day, lugging around gear and listening to drunk people. All I wanted was to have a normal conversation with a sober person about anything but Warped Tour drama and bad music — about family, the future, wherever ‘home’ was, God, anything. Along came Perry, the one who would not only get me through the summer of Warped Tour, but the one who I would come to adventure with and now start a business with, and most importantly, spend the rest of my life with.

What were your dreams before Rhodes Wedding Co. came into play?

Both of our lives had revolved around music and that’s where our passion lived. I followed my dream of being part of the music industry by becoming a publicist for Atlantic Records. However, when I accomplished what I thought was my dream, I was completely unfulfilled. I knew there had to be more to life than 15 hour days pushing music that you weren’t passionate about to begin with. So, I started over. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but it wasn’t being a publicist. I wanted to do something that moved me, fulfilled me—I wanted to see things, feel more, live more fully and grow from my experiences.

Perry had a dream of creating art and music, and traveling the world. He was living his passion more or less—he was traveling through the United States, Europe and Asia with his six-piece band, playing huge venues with big names like Placebo, Bush and Coldplay. Being able to perform across the globe was fulfilling, but the tours were just too few and far between. He struggled during the slow seasons and realized he needed to come up with another way to make a life for himself. He still wanted to do something where he could create and inspire others with his work, so he tapped into a dream that he started to pursue when we was younger, hand-carving jewelry. So being the brilliant, creative mind that he is, he taught himself how to carve rings, set stones, metalsmithing… you name it. He created the most beautiful pieces and I helped him get the business side of things up and running so he could bring in money with his talent. He set up a workshop in Los Angeles, where we were living at the time and his business took off.

I was and still am so proud of him. And regardless of what I wanted for myself, a big shift happened due to a life changing event in my family. My grandpa—who was my rock, my everything—had cancer and he wasn’t going to be with us for much longer. I quit my job, Perry packed up his workshop, and we left everything else in Los Angeles and drove cross-country to Michigan to be with my grandpa before he passed. I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen, or where we’d end up, but isn’t it the journey itself that matters the most?

Thankfully, with my BA in Communications, I was able to make the switch over to the digital marketing world and land freelance gigs as a Social Media Strategist. This allowed me to stay in Michigan with my family during this very important time of need while still bringing in money. It also allowed me to live out my adventurous spirit and be inspired by the people I meet, the places I go, and the things I experience.

I’m so thankful that we both took a leap of faith and continued to follow our dreams even when we weren’t always sure what they were. We were just open to love, adventure and living an abundant life.

Where did the initial inspiration behind Rhodes Wedding Co. come from?

It really came about when we threw caution to the wind and took that trip out to Michigan. Growing up and spending a lot of time with my grandparents, I knew they truly loved each other. They had that kind of love that you think only exists in films—that fairytale love. They had been married 50 years, and seeing them during my grandpa’s last few weeks really showed the raw passion and vulnerability that only comes from loving someone with your whole being. They never loved another and were completely dedicated to each other for their whole marriage. It’s been over a year now, and I’m still brought to tears when I think about him and their love.

They have 13 acres in the farm lands of Michigan. My grandma’s father originally owned the property—she was born there in a small shack. After my grandparents finished college and began their careers, they bought land from Grandma’s father and my grandpa built a three-story house where the shack used to sit. This place is truly something special.

Spending so much time engulfed in my grandparent’s love in a house that was built with adoration, Perry and I gained so much perspective and clarity on life and love. We saw first-hand how love can truly take you places and how important that journey is to living a life of abundance. We knew we wanted to combine our talents and work together to create something where love’s journey could be celebrated, hence Rhodes Wedding Co.

So how did that inspiration make the shift and become real—why did you decide to create Rhodes Wedding Co.?

It was obvious to us, really. We were in love, inspired by love, wanting to create something that celebrated love—wedding bands will forever be a strong symbol of love’s journey. We chose to specialize in men’s wedding bands specifically because love isn’t just about women. The journey and the story involves two. The love my grandfather had for my grandmother was so strong you could feel it bursting at the seams of his being. We wanted to give men a chance to have a ring created that was so much more than just a mass produced piece of metal. We wanted them to have a chance to create a ring that is a testimony of their romantic nature and a proud symbol of the love they have found. Their ring, hand carved, with marks of individuality to represent their one of a kind love. This is our chance to play a part in the world’s great love story.

What have the challenges been creating Rhodes Wedding Co.?

There are many challenges that arise when you’re building something from the ground up and you’re putting your whole heart into it. At first it took a lot out of us mentally and emotionally. We’re both perfectionists in more ways than one, and we didn’t want to tell anyone about the business or reveal it to the world until everything was ‘perfect.’ We worked really hard to let a lot of that go, and just commit to imperfect action. If we hadn’t done that, Rhodes Wedding Co. still may not exist!

It was especially challenging to get all the working pieces together. We both have other responsibilities apart from Rhodes Wedding Co. so we had to start a company from scratch while continuing to work on our current streams of income. Not to mention fit in our families—we’re both very big on family time, so we split a lot of our time between California and Michigan. Plus our hearts constantly yearn for adventure, so during the building of our company, we continued to travel throughout the United States, embarking on multiple cross-country road trips, weekend getaways and 4 beautiful months in Hawaii. Essentially we’re nomads, we travel as much as we can and we didn’t want to stop truly living and adventuring to create the business. We wanted to do both, and we did. Our travels are what fed our souls and inspired us to continue putting our all into the business.

What elements from your life together really inspire you to do the work you do?

So many things. Love, of course—love for each other, our love for life and new experiences and the love for our families. We both come from families that, where they lacked in finances, they made up for with the love they showed us. Our love is big. We hope to one day be able to take care of our families the way they deserve. That’s one of the goals—along with our never-ending thirst for exploring. We’re always searching for that next adventure. After my grandpa passed away last year we decided we’d travel the States to see where we wanted to put down roots. Each and every place we visit shapes us and builds our character in ways that nothing else can. We’ve visited incredible places and most are hard to leave but the only city that truly felt like we could call it home was Asheville in North Carolina. There was something special about Asheville. We thought about settling down there, but we just aren’t ready to stop living this life of adventure. Most of the time we aren’t sure where we will be from one month to the next, and that’s the beauty of it. Amelia Earhart said it best when she said, “Adventure is worthwhile in itself.” We’re constantly experiencing places for the first time together, and our relationship and business thrive off that. Perry has a traveling workshop that he brings with him whenever we head off to somewhere new. We usually try to find a ‘home base’ where he can set up shop for a few months at a time. It just works.

When you travel, where did you go? How do you choose where to go next?

That’s a good question. We’ve been to too many states to name them all, but our favorites have been Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Michigan and of course, North Carolina. We’ve also traveled internationally to England, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Austria, Thailand, Philippines, Mexico and the Cayman Islands. We want to do more international travel in the near future, but the last year has been focused on the States. Most are so quick to cross the ocean for adventure, but you’d be surprised the beauty you can find just a stone’s throw away.

When we visit a new place, sometimes our heart just calls us there. We don’t always know why, but we always leave feeling fulfilled. Some places really surprise us, like Reno. We didn’t know what to expect but we had a blast. We visited one of Perry’s childhood friends who he hadn’t seen in years. He took us rock crawling in his 4x4 over the snow-dusted mountains of Reno at dusk. It was incredible. What a feeling.

Before my grandpa passed, I talked with him for hours about his life and the adventures he had with my grandma, and recorded the audio of his storytelling so I’d always have a piece of him with me. One of the questions I asked him was, “If he could show me one place, where would it be?” He told me all about the summer road trip he took with my grandma and gave me a long list of places I must see. My grandma kept a journal while she was on the road trip, so I had her read it to me (recording the audio again, of course) and I gave her a map to draw out the route they went. We’re still in the planning stages of this trip, but I can’t wait. It’s going to be such a wonderful experience to visit places where my grandparent’s love grew while growing my love with Perry.

How has it been working together? How has it affected your relationship?

Even before we created Rhodes Wedding Co. we worked together on some level. I helped him with the business and marketing side of his company and he would listen to my woes as a freelancer. We’ve always made a great team. We can work together, travel together or simply do nothing together.

It’s really been great working together on Rhodes Wedding Co. We see eye-to-eye on most things, so it’s a lot of fun to see our vision become a reality. The only challenge we really have is when to work and when to play! Sometimes we get so wrapped up in Rhodes Wedding Co. that we find ourselves only having conversations about the business. We have to be mindful of creating a space to just be together as a couple who loves each other and not always be the couple that ‘works together.’

So how do you maintain that work/life balance?

It truly is a constant state of mindfulness. We aren’t huge schedule people. We do things when we’re most inspired to do them, and we can put our whole heart in it. You know sometimes, you’re just not feeling something, and why force yourself and take hours to do something and resent it, rather than waiting until your heart is open and you can get it done and enjoy yourself while doing it? That’s what it’s about for us...making the most of every second of our time. We want to get the absolute most out of everything we do. When I’m corresponding with people, managing our social media or writing a blog, I want my heart to be in it and 100% focused on the task at hand. Same goes for Perry. When he’s creating a piece, he’s putting his ALL into it. We don’t believe in doing anything half-heartedly. If we’re working on the business, we’re working on the business.

Same goes for the ‘life’ side of things. When we’re spending time with family, they have our full attention, and when we’re hiking or climbing behind waterfalls, we are doing just that. It’s important for us to keep separate spaces for work and play because, like I said earlier, it’s too easy for work to take over everything, especially when you love what you do. You think, “Oh it’s okay, it’s doesn’t really feel like work, just this one thing, it will only take a second.” and then before you know it, you’re aren’t giving yourself time to just be.

What do you do when you’re not working on the business or traveling?

If we aren’t working or adventuring, we spend most of time just being with each other. We’re really good at just doing nothing together. We’re both very ambitious people with big goals so a lot of times our days are full and it’s go-go-go so when we get time to just be, we do exactly that. We love to read together. We just finished a string of Haruki Murakami books and are switching gears with a book called “The Lady” that’s about Aung San Suu Kyi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who had been leading a battle for democracy and freedom in Burma. It’s not exactly bedtime reading material but we’re hooked.

We go on a lot of walks, sometimes those walks turn into “business meetings” but we try to keep it just about us enjoying the moment in nature. Coffee is a big passion for us both, so weekend mornings are usually spent sipping an incredible latte or an espresso con panna.

Sometimes we like to just go for a night drive and listen to some of our favorite artists like Sam Cooke, The National, Chet Baker, Bright Eyes, Elvis, Otis Redding and David Bowie. Perry is a beautiful singer and a talented musician, so naturally he loves to play music, and I love listening to his creations. And of course, we have our movie nights. Film is a big inspiration for us both. We cuddle up to a good Wes Anderson film from time to time. And currently we’re learning French together. Hopefully the next time we go to France we can put our new skill to good use.

What is your favorite thing about what you do?

Almost everything. We have the luxury of working together to create wedding bands that will stand as a symbol of love between couples that are ready to make that special commitment to each other. It’s truly fulfilling to be able to take part in such a beautiful event. We love being able to create something that he or they really want, that truly tells their story. It’s amazing to be able to work together and travel together and bring our inspirations from our adventures into our work. What a life.

The Beautiful Subtleties of Imperfection

Q&A with Rhodes co-founder, Perry

You were a vocalist in a band for 8 years traveling through the United States, Europe and Asia. How did that experience help shape what would become Rhodes Wedding Co?

I was from a small country town and things were a bit rough growing up, but it led me to focus on art and music. I let go of everything else in life and began traveling around the states, Europe and Asia playing music and working on art. There was something about the old streets and architecture of Europe that resonated with me. I'd get lost in new cites and small towns, admiring the texture of the stone cathedrals and pubs. In Asia, I found myself in crowded alleyways shuffling onto packed river boats. It was truly inspiring. When I had downtime from touring, I worked on new jewelry designs. But because I had given up everything to travel, I would find myself without a place to call home during these periods. There came a point where the tours got postponed and my nomad life was starting to feel more like a homeless life. Sleeping in friends’ cars and on the floor of Los Angeles art galleries. Crazy. But I just stayed focused on my art and on building my brand. I realize now how fortunate I was to have that time to take my art to a new level. A few years back, I met my love Jessy on the road. Our lives took us in different directions, but our connection remained strong. When our paths crossed again, our love grew, and naturally we began to travel together. Living as nomads, traveling with my workshop, we both became more and more passionate about the custom wedding bands and engagement pieces I was creating. We realized this was what we were meant to do. To play a part in the world’s great love story. So Rhodes Wedding Co. was born.

Did you know anything about carving jewelry to begin with? How did you teach yourself this craft?

I was a sentimental kid, pockets full of stones from every new place I explored… each one a reason to remember moments I might otherwise forget. I started tying them up with string, wearing them around my neck. That led to exploring what else I could create. I began carving wood, bronze and silver; analyzing textures and learning from experience. Then came the extensive studying and experimenting. I learned everything I could from the talented people around me, and eventually I began working with other materials like gold and platinum. In my travels, I began making notes of textures found on trees, roads, stone buildings, etc. I took all my favorite elements and began exploring new techniques. At times, I wouldn't have a full shop to work in, so I would use what supplies I had on hand and see how far I could take a design. As I honed my craft, I built a proper workshop and eventually adapted it to suit our traveling lifestyle.

You have a very specific aesthetic. It’s rugged, yet romantic. Can you tell us more about where your style comes from?

The only romance I've known lives in the beautiful subtleties of imperfection. It can be found in those unique moments with someone. It's that instant when you see something no one else sees, seemingly random, rugged… more complex than you can comprehend yet there is a feeling that stirs inside, sending you into the wild.

What inspires you to create a new piece?

As time inevitably moves along, we create moments. I find myself caught in these wakes of bliss, desire, and nostalgia. There could be a brief moment in time, sitting on the curb of a cobblestone road with the one I love, discussing everything under the sun. Weeks later, something triggers that memory, and all of a sudden it all comes flooding back: the warmth of the sunlight, the sound of her voice carried by the wind, the fragrance she wore in the air, and the texture of the roadside under my fingertips. These moments inspire me to write, to create and to live.

Can you tell us a little about your design process? How do you get from the initial idea to the finished piece?

There is something truly satisfying about holding raw elements created by nature in your hands… and then forming them into a physical manifestation from a mere concept in my scattered mind. The initial idea usually stems from a moment of nostalgia, and I begin carving and shaping the piece. Over time, my hands begin to feel the textures align with the memories. You really begin to connect with something you work so closely with. There is a bond formed and history shared. In the end, there is always something more than a ring, there is a story.

Looking through the collection online, I see that your pieces all have very specific names and descriptions. Where do these names come from?

I am constantly writing, scribbling into little notepads and sketchbooks. As we live and travel, exploring new places and enjoying intimate moments, our story evolves. When I create a new piece, there is always a memory that inspired it and usually there is something I jotted down about it in a notebook somewhere.

What are some of the obstacles to creating hand carved pieces, unique for each person?

Time. I have always worked hard to do what I love in life because there is only so much time in a day, and once it’s gone… it's gone. I am truly fortunate to be able to fill my days working on art and traveling with the one I love. I pour so much time and focus into each piece, and I find that having a constantly changing environment helps keep the creative process fresh, and adds to the ring’s journey.

Is there a push and pull between running the business and being in the creative mindset to design each piece?

Well, I've never been accused of being a businessman! It seems my mind stays on the creative side of things. Fortunately, I have the love and guidance of such a great mind in Jessy. Also, in this day and age, there is such a strong love and respect for craftsmanship and handmade art, that like-minded people gravitate towards each other. In that way, it ends up feeling like you're making something for an old friend.

Will you be creating women’s wedding bands as your company evolves?

I have and continue to create a lot of custom orders for women's wedding bands and engagement rings. So we definitely haven't left out the women! That’s why we have a custom order section. We’re dedicated to creating custom pieces that tell a personal story. You can see some of the pieces we've created for women here. At some point, we’ll introduce an official line for women, but for now we wanted to create a space dedicated to men.

Will you be creating any other collections for Rhodes Wedding Co. other than wedding bands?

We offer custom groomsmen gifts, like cufflinks and special-order beard combs. You can take a look at our gallery here. At some point, we will have a full groomsmen collection available.

So, what’s next? Whether it’s the company or just in life in general, what are you most excited about?

There is nothing I can do about this wild desire to get lost in ever-changing landscapes with my love. So I am always enjoying the moment, and looking forward to my next adventure with Jessy, my little bird.

What Started It All...

The start of our traveling lifestyle all started with this text I received from my father one morning when I was on my way to work.

RhodesWeddingCoBlogRT

My grandfather had cancer. My rock, my everything was dying. He was fighting and every day I hoped to receive that call or text saying that he was doing well. All of my hope was crushed when I received this text from my dad and I knew I couldn’t stay in Los Angeles any longer. I planned to drop everything and fly out there but Perry, the amazing man that he is, suggested that we drive out there together. He’d pack up his workshop and be by my side for the hardest time of my life.

So, I quit my job in LA, and we left everything in Los Angeles to drove cross-country to Michigan to be with my grandpa. I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen, or where we’d end up, but I knew that this was something I had to do.

The trek was the least glamorous road trip we could have done—we drove 2,300 miles in 2 days. We slept in parking lots, drank gas station coffee and only stopped to eat when we were too hungry to drive. It felt like we were in a race against time. With all that said, we made the most of our time together and enjoyed the journey for what it was. Take a look here...

We went from the dry, hot desert… to the snow of the frozen farm lands in Michigan. My grandparents have 13 acres, and the landscape is so incredibly beautiful. They originally purchased the property from my grandma’s father—she was born there in a small shack. My grandfather built a three-story house where the shack used to sit. There is something really special about that place. It’s the closest thing that feels like a home to me.

Experiencing my grandparents’ selfless love for each other, Perry and I saw first-hand how love can truly take you places, and how important that journey is to living an abundant life. It was this fragile time that caused a major shift to happen that greatly affected our future. Our perspective on life and love widened—we knew we wanted to combine our talents to create something where love’s journey could be celebrated. So Rhodes Wedding Co. was born.

I’m so thankful that I was able to be with my grandpa for his last month here, but it was the toughest thing I’ve ever had to go through. He was like a father to me. He taught me so many important things about love and living a full life. I wouldn’t be half the person I am today if it hadn’t been for him. Being able to lay with him and tell him how much he meant to me in his last hours is something I'll cherish forever. Be thankful for your loved ones and make sure they know how important they are to you.

Here’s a look back at our time in Michigan... It was a very sorrowful time but without it, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

This is my why, the why to everything that I do—to inspire others and to be moved by their success and happiness. I hope that if you're ever feeling down or questioning your decisions or even your purpose that you shift your focus to what it is that makes you happy, to your big dream, to what it is that truly fulfills you. Travel and Bloom: Aspen & the Rockies

Our ultimate highlight of Colorado was the Rocky Mountain National Park. I don’t know if anything can live up to the day we had there. As we explored this incredible landscape, the atmosphere was dark and cold. The kind of cold that is exhilarating and cozy all at the same time. It was such a magical experience. It took about an hour to defrost but it was so worth it. I hope you get a feel for this perfect day from our captures.

Captured Moments: Dan O'Day

Captured Moments: Dan O'Day

When I came across Dan's beautiful work I was completely transported into each moment that he captures. I heard the sound of high heels on hard wood floors and the laughter and sweet whispers between a couple in love. I felt the cool valley air and all the excitement and joy that surrounded the groom, his bride and all of their loved ones. His work is truly moving, and I know you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Travel and Bloom: The Southwest

We kicked off the day with a morning hike around Capitol Reef. After the hike we headed to Moab and drove through Arches National Park. It was such an incredible day. I couldn't get Conor Oberst's Moab out of my head, naturally. Thankfully, I had Perry there to serenade me. We hiked until sunset and ended the day beneath the beautiful desert skies.
